Shift & Scheduling: -Weekend rotation: Travelers could be scheduled for up to 4 out of the 6 weekends, which include Friday, Saturday and Sunday Please include in offer if traveler is open to working every weekend (WOW) as this may be a possibility -Will they be on call? No mandatory call time. If it is an extra shift on top of their already guaranteed hours, and we have enough staff then they could be placed on call for that shift
Required Skills/Experience: will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, if greater than 1 year of experience -Previous experience with our types of patients above, including IMC/stepdown acuity and Neuro -Ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, chest tubes, trach care (no fresh traches), NGT tube placement and management, JP drains, line management – PICC/Midline/CVL/PIV placement, wound vacs (Wound Care RN will change out the vac but RN must know how to assess and will need to change to wet/dry dressing in case of malfunction), wound care/dressing changes, medication administration, TPN/tube feeding, blood product transfusions, urinary and fecal collection devices -Drip titration of below medications:
Floating Requirements: Any Adult Inpatient Unit - Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, Observation
Previous Employment Requirements: Permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler
Types of Patients on Unit: -This is a mixed acuity unit meaning there will be Intermediate Care acuity as well as Tele and MedSurg – please ensure traveler understands -Surgical: Urology, prostatectomy, bowel obstruction, mass removal, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, general abdominal surgeries -Ortho: Total joints (knees/hips/shoulders), Ortho Trauma – External fixation, soft tissue injury and minor fractures -Neuro/Spine: CVA/TIA with Neuro Vascular Intervention – coiling, clipping, potentially thrombectomy (may go to ICU but if they are stable could come back to ONS) – modified ratios with this patient (CRN/flex RN will help to manage in immediate post-op time frame) Seizures/Epilepsy, brain tumor, hematoma, brain aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, AV Fistula, craniotomies with burr holes and/or shunts, Halos, Flaps Please note: post neuro-intervention is a preferred experience - education and resources are provided by the unit if they have not had this patient type -Spinal Surgical - Laminectomies, Fusions, Discectomies Please note: post neuro-intervention is a preferred experience - education and resources are provided by the unit if they have not had this patient type -General Medical: cellulitis, influenza, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure with or without the need for hemodialysis, hepatic failure, rib fracture, gastrointestinal disorders and infections, DVTs, UTIs -Wound care/Wound debridement, telemetry monitored patients
