Requirements

Experience

24 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

Travel experience is preferred from any number of months.

24 months of Post Anesthesia Care Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.

Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.

References

Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Candidates must provide 1 reference from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role

Guaranteed Hours: 40

Weeknight/Call Requirements 1 call (either a weekday or weekend) per 4 week schedule. Weekday call begins at 10 pm until 8 am (M-TH). 10 pm-9 am (Fri night).

Weekend call 9 am to 7:30 pm (Sat/Sun day) , 7:30pm to 9 am(Sat night) 7:30pm-8am (Sun night). Scheduled by manager. However, historically travelers have only had to do backup call.

Variable days with start times of 10a, 11a or 12p with call as needed

Floating Requirements No, only between the 3 PACUs/Prep

Nurse-Patient Ratios Pre-Op - 1/3-5

Common Cases GYN/Uro/Vascular/Plastic/ENT/ Ortho (total hips/knees)/Neuro/Cardiovascular/Thoracic/General (Breast/HPB/Bariatric)/Sports Med (Hand/Podiatry)/Kidney (or kidney/pancreatic) transplants. Large and complex cases. Robot-Davinci SI. Prep RNs will flex to PACU/Phase II as needed, especially if prep is done early. Will work both areas.

ICU experience bonus

Must be able to manage two phase 1 patient's at once in a fast paced environment.

We will not give a second patient to an RN before 30 minutes or if patient unstable.

Pressors, airway support, extubated CCU patients, chest tubes, A-lines, PCA, PCEA, complex pain management.

Prep RN experience bonus, experienced with IV starts.

Scrub Color/Dress Code Teal and provided

May be assigned the Resource role (break nurse) and traveler may float between PACU locations as needs increase or decrease and give breaks.
