Travel Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

Additional Details:

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekends, some holidays, no call.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine
• Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience in a Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area, Teaching Hospital Experience

Types of Patients on Unit: Adults

Unit Details: Number of Bed 27, Daily Census 26

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: CVCT ICU specializes in the care of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients. Specifically CABG, Valve Repair/Replace, Aneurysm repair, aortic dissection repair, LVAD, Heart transplant, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, STEMI, NSTEMI, Cardiogenic shock, Heart failure, arrythmia management.

Equipment Used on Unit: CRRT(NxStage), IABP, Impella, HM3 LVAD, ECMO, Zoll Thermoguard

Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite

Required Credentials Pass/Fail Testing required with strict passing criteria.

A telemetry exam will be required prior to start. The following criteria must be met in two attempts:

Adult Exam:

100% identification of lethal rhythms: Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole

No incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks [1 incorrect answer will cause failure]

Passing score of 80% or higher

Pediatric Exam

Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia

Passing score of 80% or higher

Attempts: Traveler will have two attempts to pass. If the individual does not pass on the second attempt their contract may be cancelled. If the traveler fails the second attempt they will submit a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course to Vaya before a third attempt will be assigned. If the traveler does not pass after three attempts Vaya will notify recruitment of the results. Recruitment will notify the hiring manager that the traveler’s assignment will be cancelled.
