Travel Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Oncology

Additional Details:

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Previous Employment Requirements: Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location

Required Skills/Experience: Must have MS oncology and at least 1 year hematology / oncology experience

Skills Required:

• MS/Tele (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)

• Telemetry monitoring

• Interpretation of dysrhythmias

• Use of Rapid Response Teams

• Feeding tube care and management

• Blood product administration

• Central line blood draw

• Peripheral line care/management

• PICC line management

• Nasal cannula administration

Required Credentials: Chemo Certification - ONCC issuing body is also accepted

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Patient Diagnosis: • Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)

• Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Adult)

• Amyloidosis

• Aplastic Anemia

• Chronic Leukemia

• Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

• Chronic Myeloid (Myelogenous) Leukemia

• Hodgkin's Lymphoma

• Multiple Myeloma

• Myelodysplastic Syndrome

• Myeloproliferative Disorders

• Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Special Procedures:

• Autologous Transplants: Patients receive their own stem cells.

• Syngeneic Transplants: Patients receive stem cells from their identical twin.

• Allogeneic Transplants: Patients receive stem cells from their sibling, parent, or an unrelated donor.

• CAR-T Therapy

Types of Patients on Unit: Mixed acuity PCU and MS unit

Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics

Equipment Used on Unit: B450 monitors GE telemetry system, Bladder Scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds

Unit/Facility Details: 36 Rooms, 36 Beds

Special Requests: RTO required with submission, must be built into contract

Shift & Scheduling: No set schedule, no set weekends, no block schedule

The facility determines the complete schedule, which may include working every weekend.

Must be flexible.

Number of Weekends: Variable based on unit needs

Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 Request

Floating Requirements: To other MedSurg Oncology units

• AUTO OFFER - NO INTERVIEW: This is an auto-offer position. You will likely not interview with the facility prior to receiving an offer. However, an interview can be arranged upon request. All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear "Yes" or "No" response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.
