Travel Nurse (RN) - Hospice

Call coverage rarely needed but could cover on call team.

Travelers must work 2 out of the 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Years Day.

Required:

A minimum of 3 years of prior community hospice experience

Will need excellent typing skills as they have a narrative heavy EMR

Hospice/End of Life-Complex symptom management and education

Monday - Sunday

Bi-weekly Orientations on Monday

No block schedules for any reason

Public Transportation is not accessible in this area, please ensure you have reliable transportation, personal vehicle or rental vehicle are strongly recommended

Vehicles should be equipped with all season or snow tires during the months of November – April

Patient Ratio: Nurses in home setting carry caseloads of 12-14 patients. At MMRH day nurses care for 5-7 patients (all levels of care)

Orientation: 2-3 days

Dress Code: Business casual or non-hospital scrubs-non institutional colors; Shoes: closed toe/supportive

Floating: Not currently, although it is best when RN trains across settings - Between home hospice and MMRH

Weekend Rotation: Will post Rotation Schedule: MMRH-1 weekend shift/pay; Rotation: home hospice

Self-Scheduling: No

Call Requirements: Coverage rarely needed but could cover on call team

Holiday Requirements: If needed

Patient Population: Adults primarily-at times pediatrics in home setting

Generally, a traveler case manager is assigned a geographic area, not full territory.

When they cover a weekend rotation-they would be expected to make visits throughout our service area- Chittenden & Grand Isle Countries.

We have had travelers that float. Manager will post/express a need and be clear about expectations if outside of our norm.

Strict protocol in place with following guidelines with use of app to call patients/families.
