Required Skills/Experience: Stepdown experience. Telemetry experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass) within a year. CVICU experience.
Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Epidural management, Chest tube management, Tube feedings. IV gluccomander, Cardiac gtt management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine).
Types of Patients on Unit: Primary patient population is CV surgery and vascular surgery to include open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, etc), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy, etc.), esophagogastrectomy, AAA (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies. We also receive overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses of heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, etc.
Equipment Used on Unit: Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts.
Unit/Facility Details: Number of Beds – 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. Patient Ratios – 1:5 patients per RN, 1:13 for PCT’s.
Shift & Scheduling: No call. Weekend requirements minimum – 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6 week schedule period. Flexible to work Holiday.
Floating Requirements: Any SD (1:5 ratios) or MS (1:6-7 ratios) unit, ER inpatient holding area (1:6).
