Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
24 months of Wound / Ostomy Care experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
Experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a South Dakota license or compact license

Inpatient Wound Care - Required

Guaranteed Hours: 40

Will accept first time traveler if traveler has wound care experience prior to traveling

Patient Types:

Inpatient/Outpatient/HBO/Ostomy – manager discretion on type of experience traveler has

Wound Care patients: Very large variety of patients with wounds of various causes included but not limited to diabetic foot wounds, vascular wounds, and pressure injuries

Patient Ratio: Typically: 1 patient/hour – dependent on complexity

Below agencies are approved for Accreditation:

  • American Board of Wound Management(ABWM)
  • National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO)
  • Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB)

Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Skills Required: General wound care background is a must, Wound Vacs, Nurse Level Debridement, Perform ABIs, Cast cutting

Floating: Can float from inpatient to outpatient

Orientation: 1-2 weeks for unit

Scheduling:

Monday - Friday

No nights, weekends, or major holidays

Dress Code: Scrubs - Navy Blue
