Previous Employment Requirements: Any Perm or PRN employee of Memorial must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler.

• General OR and Trauma Experience

• Bariatric Case Experience: Laparoscopic assisted cases

• General Surgery Case Experience: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple.

• Neurology Case Skills/Experience: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion.

• Orthopedic Case Skills/Experience: Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures.

• Plastic Surgery Case Skills/Experience: Free Flap - Microvascular.

• Transplant Skills/Experience: Organ donation.

• Urology Case Skills/Experience: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy.

• Trauma Case Skills/Experience: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries).

• Emergency Management Skills/Experience: Code response, Fire safety, Latex Allergy, Malignant Hyperthermia.

• Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies Experience: Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables.

• Professional Knowledge and Skills: Administration of blood products, Infection control, Radiation Safety, Specimen Handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure, Urinary bladder catheterization.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching Hospital Experience

Required Credentials: A legible copy of a valid/current US Driver’s license or US ID card.

Types of Patients on Unit: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics

Unit/Facility Details:

• 562 Staffed Beds; 23 rooms

• Parking Cost: Parking permit required, no cost. Will fill out form during orientation.

• References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Special Requests: No block schedules.

Shift & Scheduling:

• 16 - 26 week contract.

• Weekend Requirement: One per month.

• On-Call Requirement: One per week though it's not usually that often anymore.

Floating Requirements: Floating is 100% required of all travelers - Candidates will float within hospital or to an affiliate hospital/s near by.
