Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 22 months of Progressive Care Unit experience.
Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 2 years in order to be considered for this role
Candidates must provide 1 charge/lead reference from within the past 2 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Ohio license or compact license

Additional Details:

Previous Employment Requirements: Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more.

Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location

Required Skills/Experience: Skills: PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Tracheostomy care/management, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Telemetry -on the unit monitoring

Preferred Skills/Experience: Oncology experience

Skills: Cardiac Telemetry, MS/Tele, Chest tubes-Emerson/PleurEvac, External CPAP/BIPAP, Nocturnal CPAP/BiPAP

Required Credentials: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: This is a mixed acuity unit may have MS and/or PCU acuity

Patient Diagnoses:

  • • Surgical Oncology: breast, thyroid, melanoma
  • • Hepatobiliary: liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract cancers, neuroendocrine
  • • Colorectal: colon, rectal cancer
  • • Plastics: reconstructive breast cancer or sarcoma

Special Procedures:

  • • Chemotherapy
  • • Blood transfusions
  • • IV Antibiotics
  • • Oncologic emergencies
  • • cytokine release syndrome
  • • Insulin drips
  • • Heparin drips
  • • Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls

Types of Patients on Unit: Adults, Geriatrics

Equipment Used on Unit: B450 monitors GE telemetry system, Bladder Scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds

Unit/Facility Details: 36 Beds

Special Requests: No set/blocked scheduling as that is not something we offer our permanent staff

Shift & Scheduling:

Number of Weekend Shifts Per Contract: variable based on unit needs

Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 Request

Floating Requirements: Float to other acute care Oncology units
