Experience

24 months of role experience is required from any number of months.

24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience is required from last 4 years.

Experience with Allscripts/Eclipsys is preferred from any number of months.

References

Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Candidates must provide 1 reference from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role

License

Candidates must have a Illinois license

Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48

Every Other Weekend

Primary care nursing model is frequently used. Must be okay with this.

Patient Types / Common Diagnosis: Neuro- laminectomy, cervical fusion, LESI, belly surgery-ostomies, hernia repair, joint replacement-total hips/knees. PICC, TPN, Lipids. Fem pop bypass, dialysis catheter insertions, BKA, AKA. DM (dialysis is also located on the 3rd floor) PCA, some epidurals, iv abx, chronic pain (narcotics), sepsis, urgent OR cases.

Must have total joint experience

Understanding of PCA pumps, reversal drugs (narcan), sepsis management.

Experience with TPN/ Lipids.

Narcotic usage.

1 year of experience - surgical experience required.

RNs required to titrate drips

Will not guarantee block scheduling. Discuss with leader for any scheduling needs.

Schedules out 6 weeks in advance

Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend. Sat. Sun for both shifts.

Holiday Requirements: In the holiday rotation with core staff

No Call

Floating: Float to like units only. If floated to higher acuity it would be to work as a help all and not take a patient load

Dress Code: Scrubs - Black

Orientation: 1- 12 hour shift on shift of hire and unit of hire. First day is 12-14 hours to do comps, computer based modules, general orientation.
