Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 22 months of Progressive Care Unit experience.
References
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role

Additional Details:

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Can do 13 weeks, or up to 1/17 end date, Manager preference is to end 1/3, 1/10 or 1/17 to assist with holiday coverage. Will prioritize these candidates.

If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.

Oncology Experience Preferred But Not Required Nurses with ICU and PCU backgrounds also do well here

No set schedule, no set weekends, no block schedule.

Patient Diagnoses: Solid tumor, Orthopedic oncology, Thoracic oncology

Orientation and Training: First week: Monday to Friday dayshift orientation, Second week: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor.

Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics

Float Required: To other PCU or MedSurg Oncology units

Skills Required: • Interpretation of dysrhythmias • Use of rapid response teams • Feeding tube care and management • Accessing Ports • Blood Product Administration • Central line care/management • Peripheral Line Care/Management • PICC line management • Starting IVs • Heparin Protocols • Manage Cardia drips- no titration • PCA • Titrate Cardiac drips • Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac • External CPAP/BIPAP • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) • Interpretation of ABGs • Nasal Cannula • Tracheostomy Management

Skills Preferred: • Management of dysrhythmias • IV insulin protocols • Titration of Insulin drips • Phlebotomy • Chemotherapy Administration • Monitoring Chemotherapy • Wound Care/Wound Vac • Arterial line management • Surgical drains • Non-invasive airway management

There is a strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start – no exceptions.

Please note: All candidates must be made aware of the urgency of the Ohio Fingerprinting process. Candidates must complete fingerprints as soon as they sign contract. Travelers who are unresponsive or uncooperative with credentialing are at risk of push/cancel.

RTO required with submission, must be built into contract

Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
