Requirements

Experience

12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

Must have at least 24 months of Intermediate Care Unit experience.

BSN completion preferred

Experience with Cerner is required from any number of months.

References

Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role

License

Candidates must have a Maryland license or compact license

Required Skills/Experience: IV therapy/Phlebotomy, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Phlebotomy, PICC line management, Starting and maintaining IVs, Cardiac Telemetry, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Care of Ventilated Patient, External CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs), Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Oxygen administration, Oxygen tanks, Tracheostomy care/management, CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident), Feeding tube care and management, Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac drips- no titration, Manage Vasoactive drips-no titration, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Telemetry -on the unit monitoring, Use of Rapid Response/Code teams, Isolation Precautions, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure, CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident), Respiratory Care

Preferred Skills/Experience: Accessing/Managing Ports, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Chest tubes-Emerson/PleurEvac, Wound Care/Wound Vac, IV insulin protocols, Post Cardiac Angiogram, TR Band

Required Credentials: Candidate must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on lethal rhythms.

Unit/Facility Details:

• Drivers License/State ID: A valid driver's license will be required if driving on behalf of MedStar Health is an essential function of the job.

• References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Day/Night

• Every Other Weekend and Holiday rotations as necessary.

Floating Requirements: ICU/ possibility to float to Med Surg if needed by the facility
