ED Holds/Tele
An interview may not be available prior to offer.
No block scheduling.
Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
Resume: Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility.
Must have unit/specialty experience in the past 6 months.
Shift: 7a - 7p or 7p - 7a - Ability to self-schedule; however this could change from time to time.
4 weekend shifts per 4 week schedule; must work 2 of 4 major holidays
Floating Requirement: Would float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and CRMC/MGMC Eds as needed. First to float.
Beds: CRMC 60 ED Beds, MGMC 31 ED Beds
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: ED holds waiting for placement on a unit, primarily MS/Tele
Must be able to decrease cardiac drips per physicians’ orders and parameters. Nurses will be caring for more tele patients VS medical. (MS/Tele travelers DO NOT need prior travel experience).
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone
**Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving offer, through RELIAS, only (with 2 MAX attempts).
**There is also a PASS/FAIL SIM LAB on day one of orientation (study guides will be provided with first day instructions).
Additional Notes: Will be caring for patients from the ER who are waiting on a bed in the hospital.
Additional Questions: May be asked to help with ED patients including vitals, IV starts and medication administration. Will not be asked to be primary RN for ED patient assignment.
