Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Travel experience is required from last 6 months.
Must have at least 12 months of Step Down Unit experience.
Trauma Level 2 experience is required from any number of months
Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 2 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Missouri license or compact license

Additional Details:

BJC policy: Every other weekend required.

RNs only - Clinicians who obtained RN degree outside of the U.S. and do not hold MO/IL/Compact license require extended licensing and compliance timeframe.

No medical marijuana cards accepted.

Required Skills/Experience: Note: must have been at the bedside within the last 6 months; some ICU exp. or high acuity stepdown required due to the high acuity of this unit. * * * * * Please see Special Procedures/Unit Details box for additional HARDSTOP requirements. Do not send as a screen if they are missing these skills.

Shift & Scheduling: -Weekend REQ: 2 shifts every other weekend. For day shift it is every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday. For night shift it can be Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday -depends on who already is on rotation -Is on-call REQ? No

Special Requests: Open to accommodating block schedule? No

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, insulin drips, trach vents, art lines, external pacemakers, chest tubes. -Typically we have 1-2 RTs that are assigned to SDU each shift, depending on census. RT is responsible for vents, but RN needs to know how to troubleshoot alarms. The special procedures and equipment are non-negotiable, as this is the level of care of the floor.

Patient Diagnoses: Acute Medical Care Unit, essentially a step-down from ICU. High acuity step down unit

Types of Patients on Unit: adults

Previous Employment Requirements: -Return Staff Policy (ex: gone 1 yr or 6 months to return as traveler) – -Permanent employees at must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler. -All Standard Travelers (reside outside of a 75 mile radius) can stay for an 18 month period. Must take a 3 month break after 18 months.
