Travel Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit

Additional Details:

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Previous Employment Requirements: Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location

Required Skills/Experience: PCU work experience

Work Settings: PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown

Respiratory: Tracheostomy care/management

Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response: Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Telemetry -on the unit monitoring

Preferred Skills/Experience: Oncology experience

Work Settings: Cardiac Telemetry, MS/Tele

Respiratory: Chest tubes-Emerson/PleurEvac, External CPAP/BIPAP

Additional Skills: Nocturnal CPAP/BiPAP

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

Patient Diagnoses:

• Surgical Oncology: Breast, Thyroid, Melanoma

• Hepatobiliary: Liver, Pancreas, Spleen, Biliary Tract Cancers, Neuroendocrine

• Colorectal: Colon, Rectal Cancer

• Plastics: Reconstructive Breast Cancer or Sarcoma

Special Procedures:

• Chemotherapy

• Blood transfusions

• IV Antibiotics

• Oncologic emergencies

• cytokine release syndrome

• Insulin drips

• Heparin drips

• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls

Types of Patients on Unit: Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics

Equipment Used on Unit: B450 monitors GE telemetry system, Bladder Scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds

Unit/Facility Details: Mixed acuity unit that cares for both PCU and Med Surg patients. This is a very busy surgical floor. All perm staff is PCU trained.

Shift & Scheduling: Block Schedules: No

D/N shift option is available

Weekend Requirement: Variable, based on unit needs

Self-Schedule Requests: You will enter your schedule requests so we can see your preferred schedule before balancing and posting the final schedule

Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 Request

Floating Requirements: To other acute care Oncology units
