Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Additional Details:

No RTO will be approved during the following dates: Halloween Weekend: 10/30 - 11/3 Thanksgiving: 11/26 - 11/30 Christmas / New Year’s: 12/21 - 1/1

Previous Employment Requirements: Staff has to be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler. From last shift worked to start date

Required Skills/Experience: Minimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg and/or ICU with EPIC or Cerner experience. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required.

6 North Trauma Surgical

  • Required Skills/Experience: At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience. Wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation and escalations
  • Types of Patients on Unit: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries
  • Unit/Facility Details: 23 Beds
  • Patient Ratios: 1/5-6

5 South Neuroscience

  • Required Skills/Experience: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, Colostomy/Ostomy, Wound Care, Chest tube, Surgical Site Care, C-Collar, Abdominal Binders, Restraints
  • Types of Patients on Unit: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post trauma, angiogram
  • Unit/Facility Details: 33 Beds
  • Patient Ratios: 1/5-6

5 North MedSurg/Oncology

  • Required Skills/Experience: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; Chemo administration, if certified.
  • Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience
  • Types of Patients on Unit: All patient types except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal. MS/Oncology patients
  • Unit/Facility Details: 39 Beds
  • Patient Ratios: 1/6
  • Tele monitoring on hallway monitors and by tele techs on ground floor

4 South Clinical Decision Unit

  • Required Skills/Experience: Assessment, prioritization, communication and documentation skills; Tracheotomy care, Suctioning, O2 Therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, External catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube, central line care, pressure ulcer management/preventive measures, falls prevention management, restraints.
  • Types of Patients on Unit: General MedSurg, COPD, CHF, Diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, Pneumonia, Renal Failure, Sepsis, UTI, End of Life Comfort
  • Unit/Facility Details: 18 Beds
  • Patient Ratios: 1/5-6

3 South Orthopedics

  • Required Skills/Experience: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley, drains (hemovacs/JP drains)
  • Types of Patients on Unit: Orthopedic and spine: Joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies, etc.
  • Unit/Facility Details: 20 Beds
  • Patient Ratios: 1/5; 1/6 if medsurg

3 North MS/Ortho/Urology

  • Required Skills/Experience: Trach, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, follow nurse-driven foley protocol.
  • Types of Patients on Unit: Urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg
  • Unit/Facility Details: 23 Beds
  • Patient Ratios: 1/5-6

IV pumps: Plum 360

Medication dispensing: Omnicell

Monitors: Spacelabs

Unit/Facility Details: Parking: Parking deck only 2nd through 4th levels

Shift & Scheduling:

Weekend rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month; no self scheduling – utilize smart square

Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy

Holiday Expectations: This does not mean they will automatically be scheduled for those dates, but we will not contractually guarantee to being off prior to arrival.

Floating Requirements: Any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds)
