Travel Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery Unit

Required Skills/Experience:

• High acuity experience: labor management and delivery of high risk OB patients, ability to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, cervical checks, reading/interpreting fetal monitoring strips; second set of hands (receive and recover normal newborn as needed)

Preferred Skills/Experience: 5+ preferred

Required Credentials: If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

• HIGH acuity: Hypertension, Mg administration, C-sections (33% c section rate), Preterm labor, Insulin drips (rarely- follow protocol), vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, Robust antepartum, PROM, Multiple births, post-partum hemorrhage

• Transition post vaginal births and C-Section (mom and baby) Expectation is full recovery of birthing patient and baby; If there is a second set of hands to attend the birth and they will assign APGARS, but no guarantee they will be available after that to help care for the baby Up to 300 deliveries per month

Equipment Used on Unit: IV pumps: Alaris CareFusion, Fetal Surveillance: Centricity/Qx, Epidural Pumps- CAD Solaris, Panda Warmers, Coviden SCD’s

Unit/Facility Details:

• L & D Beds: 34
• 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum, 4 OB ED, 3 OR
• Post Partum: 18 Beds

Patient Ratios:

• 1:1 active labor
• 1:2 non-active laboring
• 1:2-3 antepartum, dependent on acuity

Parking: Free badge access parking in designated areas

Shift & Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: Every other, but can be variable based on need
• On call? If so, what is that schedule?
• No mandatory call requirements
• May pick up available open shifts as needs arise
• Holiday Expectations: Yes, fair and equitable; no holidays for ANM, but they may be able to pick up if needed

Floating Requirements: Antepartum (within L & D) , postpartum (4th floor) (occasionally), additional assignments within scope and experience
