Travel Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool

Additional Details:

Shift & Scheduling: Day/Evening, 12 hour shift, 7:00am-7:30pm. Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required.

Required Skills/Experience:

-Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within the last three years.

• Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Cardiac step down and general cardiac experience
• Teaching Hospital Experience:

Floating Requirements:Travelers are the first to Float, May float out to NICU and general care

Types of Patients on Unit: Neonates, Adolescents, Infants, Pediatrics

Unit Details: Number of Rooms 25, Daily Census18

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Cardiac, Respiratory, Neuro/Neurosurg, Level 1 trauma center, Transplant (heart, liver, kidney), Mixed unit with both CVPICU & PICU patients. 4 bed satellite ICU beds on General care floor.

Equipment Used on Unit: CRRT, VAD, ECMO

Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite

Special Requests: 1st Time travelers accepted in some units

Required Credentials:

Pass/Fail Testing required with strict passing criteria.

A telemetry exam will be required prior to start. The following criteria must be met in two attempts:

Adult Exam:

100% identification of lethal rhythms: Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole

No incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks [1 incorrect answer will cause failure]

Passing score of 80% or higher

Pediatric Exam

Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia

Passing score of 80% or higher

Attempts: Traveler will have two attempts to pass. If the individual does not pass on the second attempt their contract may be cancelled. If the traveler fails the second attempt they will submit a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course to Vaya before a third attempt will be assigned. If the traveler does not pass after three attempts Vaya will notify recruitment of the results. Recruitment will notify the hiring manager that the traveler’s assignment will be cancelled.
