Guaranteed Hours: 48
Scheduling:
-Weekend rotation: Every other - but not guaranteed
-On call: No
-Holiday Expectations: No RTO during holidays
-Approval of time off: Up to 7 days – must extend to accommodate a full 13-week contract. No RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August every year)
Minimal Experience:
-2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience is most preferred
-If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience excluding travel and have significant RN experience outside of ICU, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.
Patient Types:
-Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
-Diagnoses include but are not limited to: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma – heavy trauma population
-Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR – 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers. Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this – given to permanent staff.
Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
Skills required:
-Comfortability working a 48hr/week contract – this is not negotiable for this unit
-Experience with the above-mentioned patients. If traveler has experience outside of this specialty – please include this is your offer details: ICU RN qualified to float to ED
-Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, strong critical thinking and assessment skills, working well in team setting, comfortable in fast pace setting with all critical patients.
-Impella, IABP and CRRT – strongly preferred

Floating: Not common unless overstaffed. Could float to any adult floor – including Medsurg/Tele with 1:4 ratio. Confirm traveler comfortability during interview.

-Hospital orientation
-(1) 12 hour shift and (1) 8 hour shift in the ICU
