Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Travel experience is required from any number of months.
24 months of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
Trauma Level 1 experience is required from any number of months

Shift: Day - 07:00 - 19:30 / Night - 19:00 - 07:30

8 / 12 hour shifts

Block Schedules: No

D/N Rotation - unit typically schedules consecutive weeks on days and/or nights. Such as, 3 weeks on days, 3 weeks on nights or 2 weeks on days, 4 weeks on nights.

Flipping restrictions: Staff will not flip more than 2 times within a 6-week schedule

Staff will be scheduled off a minimum of 36hrs between the end of a night shifts and beginning of a day shift

Teaching Hospital Experience - Preferred

Required:

CVICU experience

Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine

Experience in a Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area - Preferred

Inpatient RN travelers must have completed two years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty they are submitting to

Telemetry:

Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start.

Passing score of 80% or higher

Attempts: Traveler will have two attempts to pass.

If the traveler fails the second attempt they will submit a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course to Vaya before a third attempt will be assigned.

Patient Types: Provides care for patients requiring specialized care for cardiac and thoracic surgeries and procedures, heart and/or lung transplants and various medical devices.

Floating: Travelers are the first. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization.

Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite

Other transportation options are available: bus, park & ride, private parking, etc

Pre-Approved Time Off: 2 Requests

Orientation: 36 Hours

Patient Population: Adults

Daily Census: 26

Common Diagnosis: CVCT ICU specializes in the care of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients. Specifically CABG, Valve Repair/Replace, Aneurysm repair, aortic dissection repair, LVAD, Heart transplant, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, STEMI, NSTEMI, Cardiogenic shock, Heart failure, arrythmia management

RTO: Manager will review/approve during candidate review process.

Generally, all job postings will state that weekend rotations and some holidays will be required

Orientation:

UWH orientation is held every other week – typically on a Monday

Travelers will orient at 600 Highland Ave, room F8/170 (subject to change)

Orientation is typically about one week.
