Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 12 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience.
Experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Alaska license

Previous Employment Requirements: Permanent staff must be separated from Providence for a minimum of 3 months to return as a traveler.

Required Skills/Experience: Administration of blood & blood products, Starting and maintaining IVs, Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring, Assist with vaginal delivery, Forceps/vacuum extraction, Hemorrhage/shock, Sterile vaginal exam, Antihypertensives, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), Prostaglandins, Terbutaline, APGAR scores, ID/Security Banding, Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation, Cord Care, Discharge teaching to parents, Infant Identification, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Newborn Assessment, Newborn hypoglycemia, Teach Circumcision care to parents, Thermoregulation, Breastfeeding Support/lactation support, Foley catheter insertion/management, Fundus / lochia / perineum care, Wound Assessment and Care, Cesarean Section, Couplet Care, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Pregnancy induced hypertension, Vaginal Delivery, Epidural Anesthesia, Pain assessment & management, Isolation Precautions/PPE, Vaccine Administration, LDRP, Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, Use of External Fetal Monitoring, Triage of obstetrical patients

Preferred Skills/Experience: Drawing Venous Blood, Amnioinfusion, Assist with high risk delivery, Insulin drips, Baby Nurse (“Baby Catcher”), Assist with Circumcision/Assess site post-op, Car Seat Education, Metabolic Screen, Phototherapy, Episiotomy/Incisional Care, Multiple Births, Use of Internal Fetal Monitoring, Use of IUPC (Intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration

Required Credentials: Cannot have any hits/suspensions on license or any background hits from any point in the past. References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years

Special Requests: All positions at Providence Health & Services require that any and all lab items requested during onboarding be completed within 72 hours of signing a contract - no exceptions. This means candidates must be responsive and willing to go to a lab to complete health orders ASAP after signing. Failure to comply may lead to a pushed start or cancellation as assessed by the facility.

Shift & Scheduling: 4x12 Variable (traveler will work either straight days or straight nights, but the exact shift will not be known until closer to the start date and based on current staffing needs at that time). Traveler can be called off for 1, 12 hour shift per 2 weeks
