Requirements
Experience
24 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience within the past 4 years.
References
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
Candidates must provide 1 charge/lead reference from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license
Certifications
BLS (Required)
NRP (Required)
Intermediate AWHONN FHM (Preferred)
Vaccinations
COVID vaccination required. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Independent with Labor/Postpartum/Newborn Care. 2-3 years of OB experience required.
  • RNs required to titrate drips: Pitocin, Magnesium, occasional insulin.
  • RNs must be competent with EFM documentation.

Types of Patients on Unit: Level 1 Obstetric and Nursery Care. Not currently scrubbing or circulating C-sections, but may happen in the future. Travelers will triage. Pre-eclampsia, GDM (if well controlled). Try to transfer out high risk if able. Deliver 36 weeks and above. Anything less they would try to transfer out, if it is safe for the patient.

Unit Details:

  • L&D Beds: 5 LDRP
  • OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: 1
  • Postpartum beds: 3 (C-section rooms)
  • Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: yes (3 nurses on during the day and 2 at night).

Special Requests: Block scheduling can be arranged.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • 0700-1930, 1900-0730
  • Weekend Requirements: 2 weekends per 4 week schedule.
  • Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday.
  • Is there a call or standby requirement?: 2- 12 hour calls per 4 week schedule. Call person is the 3rd person for night shift. Call is from 1900-0730. One hour response time.

Floating Requirements: Must be willing to float to all departments on low census days as RN/CNA helpers.
