Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
12 months of travel experience is preferred from any number of months.
Must have at least 24 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience.
3 months of experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 references from within the past 2 years in order to be considered for this role

Candidates must have a Connecticut license or compact license

Required Skills/Experience: IV therapy/Phlebotomy: Administration of blood & blood products, Drawing Venous Blood, Starting and maintaining IVs, Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring; Labor and Delivery Management: Amnioinfusion, Assist with high risk delivery, Assist with vaginal delivery, Circulate for C-section, Forceps/vacuum extraction, Hemorrhage/shock, Recover C-Section; Medication & Administration: Antihypertensives, Insulin drips, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), Prostaglandins, Terbutaline; Neonatal Care in Delivery Room: APGAR scores, Baby Nurse (“Baby Catcher”), ID/Security Banding, Neonatal Resuscitation, Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation; Antepartum Care and Procedures: Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring); Postpartum Care of the Patient with: Bladder Distension, Cesarean Section, Couplet Care, Multiple Births, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Pregnancy induced hypertension, Vaginal Delivery; Postpartum Care and Procedures: Breastfeeding Support/lactation support, Foley catheter insertion/management, Fundus / lochia / perineum care, Use of Electric/Manual breast pump, Wound Assessment and Care; Pain Management: Epidural Anesthesia, General Anesthesia, IV conscious sedation, Nitrous Oxide, Opioids, Pain assessment & management; Work Settings: Labor and Delivery, Newborn Care; Infant Identification: Newborn Assessment, Newborn hypoglycemia, Thermoregulation; Fetal Monitoring: Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, Use of External Fetal Monitoring, Use of Internal Fetal Monitoring, Use of IUPC (Intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration

Preferred Skills/Experience: IV therapy/Phlebotomy: Maintain central lines (CVC / PICC); Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Care: Adult cardiac arrest, Infant / neonatal arrest, Telemetry Interpretation, Use of Rapid Response/Code teams; Labor and Delivery Management: Scrub for C-Section; Medication & Administration: Anticoagulants, Anticonvulsants; Neonatal Care in Delivery Room: Collect cord samples; Antepartum Care and Procedures: Assist with amniocentesis, Assist with sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation), NST (Non Stress Tests), Reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus; Surgical Case/Procedures: Cervical Cerclage, D & C, Tubal Ligation; Pain Management: Use of PCA (IV); Work Settings: Facility births/month >300, High Risk Antepartum

Unit/Facility Details: Number of beds: 11, Total Staffed Beds: 1567, Parking Cost: $125/month

Shift & Scheduling: Will take 3x12s or 4x12s. For 3x12s contracts - must include call. Weekend REQ: Every other Will accept weekend block, Call Required: 16 hours/6week schedule block .
