Experience

24 months of Progressive Care Unit experience is required from last 3 months.
References

Additional Details:

Guaranteed Hours: 36

Department: PCU w/ Peds (Combo unit: Peds and Adult)

Patient Population: Mostly PCU for adults with occasional Peds

Common diagnoses/Types of patients: CHF, respiratory failure, Afib, DKA, GI Bleeds, dementia, AKI, suicidal, PEs, pneumonia, influenza, COVID.

Experience: Chest tubes, identify arrhythmias, cardioversions, TEEs, post heart cath patients, defibrillator, pain management, PPE. Do have occasional Peds on the floor- they do have Peds RNs that will care for them.

RNs are required to titrate drips -- up and down. Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, Insulin, heparin, lasix, electrolytes, dobutamine, dopamine.

RNs are required to read their own strips.

Shifts & Scheduling: No self scheduling- do work with travelers on block scheduling (accommodate as much as possible). Travelers will fill in gaps of first schedule.

Weekend Requirements: Generally every 3rd weekend but may be more based on need- they just ask for flexibility.

Holiday Requirements: Every 3rd holiday- please expect to work one of the winter holidays.

Call or a standby requirement: No requirement. Will only give if they have requested to have their scheduled shift off or if they volunteer to cancel.

Floating Requirements: Yes, occasionally to MedSurg with a full assignment.

Scrub Color/Dress code: Any solid color scrub- no design/print. Natural hair color.

Unit/Department specific orientation: Two days of nursing department orientation and one shift on the floor.
