Requirements

Experience

12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

Must have at least 24 months of Step Down Unit experience.

Experience with Meditech is required from any number of months.

References

Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Candidates must provide 1 charge/lead reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

License

Candidates must have a Massachusetts license

Additional Details:

Previous Employment Requirements: Must be separated from BILH for at least 6 months to be considered (perm, per diem, contract)

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: RNs rotate med-surg/Step Down assignments.

Types of Patients on Unit: We care for Step-Down level patients as well as telemetry/med-surg patients.

Patient Population:

Cardiac: Cardiothoracic surgery, CHF, Afib/RVR on drips diltiazem, amiodarone, lasix, esmolol, cangrelor, lidocaine, nitroglycerin

Respiratory: COPD, NIV: BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, hydrocortisone drip

Neuro: Q2hr neuro checks, Q2hr seizure checks, continuous EEG monitoring, IV dilantin

Renal: Peritoneal dialysis, Q2hr BMP for hyponatremia, ETOH patients requiring IV phenobarbital.

Unit/Facility Details: 20 total beds in unit

Patient Ratio: Step Down - 1/3, MS - 1/5

Mixed intermediate care unit.

20 private beds, 14 designated as med-surg level and 6 designated as Step Down

Shift & Scheduling: Rotating, day/night; Will rotate within the same week.

Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend

Floating Requirements: Will float to MS, ICU to care for step down and MS/ED if needed
