Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Step Down Unit experience.
Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 2 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Missouri license or compact license

Additional Details:

RNs only - Clinicians who obtained RN degree outside of the U.S. and do not hold MO/IL/Compact license require extended licensing and compliance timeframe.

DOU/Step-Down

Ratios: We have a dual unit – PCU/Stepdown and the floor side. On the PCU it is 2-3, on the floor it is usually 4, but can be 5 at times. All nurses can work on either side

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Weekend REQ: every other

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Special Requirements: Interpretation & mgmt. of dysrhythmias, tele, manage & titrate cardiac drips, chest tubes

Parking: • Monthly parking passes available. Travelers can reach out to Public Safety for parking passed and speak with them about what is available. Security and Parking: 314-362-0750 o North Surface Lot-$73 (price and availability may vary) o Clayton Ave. Building Southeast Lot- $63 (price and availability may vary) o Clayton Taylor Garage- $73 (price and availability may vary) • For orientation: park in the Laclede Garage (4929 Forest Park Ave, St. Louis Mo. 63108) for which there is a $15.00 charge. Pull a parking ticket and take with you. Barnes does not validate or reimburse for the charge. Wear scrubs. • If you are working a straight night shift: If you are working straight night shift, there is no charge for parking, and you may park in the employee parking (you will receive parking information during orientation). • If you will be working a day/night rotation: you will have to obtain a parking pass for which there is a $70.00 fee per month. The garage that you will be parking in will be Clayton/Taylor Ave location. Bring your license plate number with you on your first day.

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

  • Patient population: Lung transplant, lung surgeries, lobectomy, mass removal, wedge resection, bronchial sleeve, esophagectomy, hiatal hernia repair

Equipment Used on Unit:

  • Equipment/attachments: telemetry, epidural/PCU, some IV drips, chest tubes, G/J tubes, tube feeding

Special Requests:

  • RTO must be on the submittal and cannot be changed once the profile has been sent to the manager for review.
  • No RTO the first week of an assignment.

Required Credentials:

  • Background Policy to be noted prior to submission

Previous Employment Requirements:

  • Permanent employees at must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler.
  • All Standard Travelers (reside outside of a 75 mile radius) can stay for an 18 month period. Must take a 3 month break after 18 months.
