Required Certifications: Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN, Relias, or C-EFM)
Mandatory Skills: assessment skills for antepartum, laboring and recovery of delivered patient (vaginal & c-section), newborn care (Level I Nursery), transitional care and stabilization for transport of newborn and maternal patients, IV skills
Patient Types: antepartum, laboring, postpartum, post-op c-section, post-op hysterectomy, newborns
Notes: Labor staff care for the antepartum, intrapartum, and delivery (vaginal or c/section) patients, circulates c/sections, recovery of delivered patient, well-newborn, postpartum; Nursery staff attend every delivery for catching of infant (vaginal and c-sections), care of the newborn infant (we deliver 35 weeks and greater), stabilization of the patient to be transferred whether newborn or maternal. Both areas start their own IV and draw labs. Infant stay for low blood sugar and phototherapy as long as improving.
