Types of Patients on Unit: Adults, Geriatrics

Unit Details: Daily Census 28, Number of Rooms 32, Number of Beds 32

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: The intensive care nursing staff provides care to adult critical patients 18 years and over with medical/surgical, neurological and cardiac diagnoses requiring a higher level of specialized care. All 32 ICU beds have bedside as well as remote telemetry capabilities. Patients on ICU are admitted primarily for the treatment of their underlying disease or management and treatment for complications related to their disease process requiring a higher level of care.

The following clinical treatments and activities may be performed on the unit: Administration of Cardiac drips, Administration of Intensive Insulin drips, Administration of Heparin Drip, Administration of continuous sedation and analgesia drips, Administration of Tissue Plasminogen Activator (tPA), Intravenous therapy using peripheral and central venous catheters, Nutritional support including TPN and tube feedings, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Pronation of patients with acute respiratory complications, Intra-aortic balloon pump therapy, EKOS Therapy for DVT & PE complications, Hypothermia therapy Mass transfusion therapy, Wound care

Equipment Used on Unit: CRRT - PrismaFlex and PrisMax Baxter Machines, TTM - Artic Sun, Belmont Rapid Infuser

Special Requests: During holiday season (Nov-Jan), only one holiday RTO can be requested for approval.
