Requirements
Experience
24 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
12 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
Candidates must provide 1 reference from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Minnesota license

Additional Details:

36-48 hours and up to every third weekend/ holiday.

  • Births per day? Month? Year?: 15 births/month, approximately 180 per year.

  • Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: AWHONN Staffing Guidelines.

  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: 35+ Wks, Will take some higher risk patients such as Pre- eclampsia, DM, Advanced Maternal Age, and Twins (no triplets).

  • Must have some MS experience in past as they will be asked to float to MS unit. Must be comfortable caring for infants/newborns with minor resp needs. Will accept first time travelers. Must be comfortable mentoring or orientating new staff or other travelers.

  • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes

  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Pitocin, Insulin, & Mag, IV Antibiots and Antivirals.

  • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips?: Post C-Sections recover in PACU or ICU; OB RN will be asked to follow the mom into ICU or PACU to care for baby.

  • EFM System: GE Centricity

  • Holiday Requirements: May be ask to go into the Holiday Rotation

  • Is there a call or standby requirement?: May be ask to go on-call for low census, call shift is unpaid if volunteeriarly taken.

  • Floating Requirements: May be asked to float to MS or MS Peds assignment.

  • Scrub Color/Dress code: Any Color Scrubs, scrubs provided if going into the OR.

  • Unit/Department specific orientation: 1 12 hr shift of General Orientation which will include going to floor for a few hours, 1- 12 hr shift with Preceptor.
