Guaranteed Hour: 48
2 years of ICU experience Excluding travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience Excluding travel and have significant RN experience outside of ICU, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types: Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma Diagnoses include but are not limited to: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma – heavy trauma population Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR – 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this – given to permanent staff
Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Required Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, strong critical thinking and assessment skills, working well in team setting, comfortable in fast pace setting with all critical patients.
Impella, IABP and CRRT – strongly preferred
Floating: Not common unless overstaffed. Could float to any adult floor – including Medsurg/Tele with 1:4 ratio.
Orientation: (facility and unit) (1) 12 hour shift and (1) 8 hour shift in the ICU
Weekend rotation: Every other No On Call Holiday Expectations: No RTO during holidays
Up to 7 days – must extend to accommodate a full 13-week contract. No RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August every year)
