Medical Surgical - Neuro
References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.
Shift & Scheduling: 4x12 or 3x12s. Will work every other weekend. No on call. Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
Floating Requirements: Floating is 100% required of all travelers - Candidates will float within hospital or to an affiliate hospital/s near by
Special Requests: Discuss block schedule requests with manager.
Required Skills/Experience:
-Required Work Setting Experience: Med/Surg.
-Required Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response Skills/Experience: Telemetry- remote monitoring, Use of Rapid Response Teams.
-Required Gastrointestinal Case Skills/Experience: Colostomy care, Feeding tube care and management.
-Required IV therapy/Phlebotomy Skills/Experience: Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs.
-Required Medication Experience: Heparin, Insulin, PCA.
-Required Neurological/Psychiatric Case Skills/Experience: CVA, Pre/Post Neuro Surgery, Spinal cord injuries, Traumatic Brain injury.
-Experience with Surgical drains required.
-Required Respiratory Case Skills/Experience: Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, CPAP/BiPAP, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Oral suctioning, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen tank, Pre/Post Thoracic Surgery, Tracheostomy Management.
-Required Professional Knowledge and Skills: Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac. Continuous Bladder Irrigation experience required.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching Hospital Experience

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Neuro
Previous Employment Requirements: Any Perm or PRN employee of Memorial must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler
