Required Skills/Experience: This is an Infusion RN Role for a well-rounded RN with experience in Chemotherapy
A candidate in this role will need to be able to administer chemotherapy as well as IV Therapy for patients undergoing Oncology treatment at the facility.
IV therapy/infusions, accessing/managing ports, administration of blood and blood products, administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, care and management of ports, central line blood draw, central line/implanted line care, infusion pump management, intravenous hydration/multivitamins, PICC line care, starting and maintaining IVs, biotherapy, active immunotherapy specific/non-specific, cytotoxic therapy, recognize/manage side effects, acute tumor lysis syndrome (ATLS), anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression, administration of chemotherapy, body fluid handling post chemotherapy, continuous infusion of chemotherapy, IV push administration of chemotherapy, management/disposal of cytotoxic spills, monitor chemotherapy, oral administration of chemotherapy, recognize/communicate abnormal lab values, alteration in skin and mucous membranes, altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor medications, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, neupogen, phlebotomy skills, IV push narcotic agents, medication tolerance/dependence assessment, infusion center experience, outpatient oncology.
Preferred Skills/Experience: It is highly preferred that a candidate have experience caring for & administering chemo for patients with an extensive range of cancer diagnoses
Bladder/kidney cancer, brain cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, ear/nose/throat cancers, kidney cancer, leukemia/blood dyscrasias, liver cancer, lung cancer, lymphoma/non-Hodgkins lymphoma, melanoma, multiple myeloma, ovarian/uterine cancer, pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, isolation precautions, neutropenic precautions.
Required Credentials: All positions at Providence Health & Services require that any and all lab items requested during onboarding be completed within 72 hours of signing a contract - no exceptions. This means candidates must be responsive and willing to go to a lab to complete health orders ASAP after signing. Failure to comply may lead to a pushed start or cancellation as assessed by the facility.
References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years
Cannot have any hits/suspensions on license or any background hits from any point in the past.
Unit/Facility Details: Parking is paid and is in a parking garage attached to the building on Santa Monica Blvd.
Special Requests: RTO must be listed at time of submission.
Shift & Scheduling: M-F
With no call, but there may be rare instances that this RN needs to work overtime if reactions or complexities occur during treatment. RN must confirm agreement with this upon signing.
Must sign for 26 weeks.
