Unit 5 North Med/Tele Ortho and Complex MedSurg
Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Nurse:Patient Ratios typical ratio for all medsurg units is 1:5 up to 1:6 at times, ratio would be adjusted down for higher acuity patients
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Ortho, postop total joints, general medsurg overflow
Must have experience at a larger facility with a lot of surgeries/high acuity patients.
Must be comfortable with lines, chest tubes.
RNs required to titrate drips: Heparin, could have an order for amio and that can be started and then patient would be transferred to cardiac unit
Shift & Scheduling: Travelers are expected to fill holes, but managers will try to accommodate block scheduling as schedule allows, open to weekenders if traveler would like to work every weekend but that is not required.
Weekend Requirement: Every other or 2 weekends per month is standard, could be higher to meet needs of department
Holiday Requirement: Rotate in with regular staff
No Call or a Standby requirement.
Floating Requirements: Within skillset, all staff float between all medsurg units. higher acuity - patients would be given to core staff
Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: any color, needs to be solid color and professional
Unit/Department specific orientation first day, all paperwork and attestations, logins for Epic, show around unit (a few hours), discuss scheduling.
