Requirements
Experience
24 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Travel experience is required from any number of months.
36 months of Surgical Intensive Care Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
Candidates must provide 1 reference from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Texas license or compact license

Guaranteed Hours 48

Candidates need to be flexible on scheduling - no self scheduling

Every other weekend required

Floating Requirements: first to float, then OT floats, then remainder of staff. Float to other ICU's within hospital, skill set will be considered for assignment

Beds 12, SICU (6CA)

Nurse Patient Ratios 1:2, 1:3 depending on downgrade/acuity/emergency admit (infrequent when staffed)

Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Liver/kidney transplant, vascular surgeries like endardectomies and fem/pop bypass, ENT for cancer, facial flaps, throat cancer resection, complicated throat/esophageal infections that compromise airway, abdominal surgery like colectomy, ex-laps, abdominal aneursym, mastectomy, deep tissue flaps

Successful placements here have worked in a very busy hospital in the past.

Experience or 'Must have' skills: early recognition of change in patient condition, clear communication and escalation with providers, critical thinking skills, CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilator, various drains/surgical sites

Are RNs required to titrate drips? yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips vasopressin, epinephrine, Levophed, heparin, dobutamine, dopamine, versed, hydromorphone, fentanyl, ketamine, nimbex, esmolol, Cardene

RN reads strip - Phillips monitors

Scrub Color/Dress Code teal bottoms, black or printed coordinating scrub top, no fleece jackets. No shellac, dip, or acrylic nails, no overlays.
