Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Travel experience is required from any number of months.
24 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience is required.
3 months of experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Washington license or compact license

Additional Details:

  • Shift & Scheduling:

  • MultiCare includes the expected start date they prefer on their job postings. Please keep this in mind when listing your start date availability! If you can start on the day they are requesting, you are more likely to be selected for an interview or offer.

  • Weekend rotation: Every other, but can be variable based on need

  • No mandatory call requirements

  • Holiday Expectations: Yes

  • Incidental days off (24-48 hr) discuss with CANM or Manager

  • Required Skills/Experience:

  • High acuity experience: labor management and delivery of high risk OB patients, ability to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, cervical checks, reading/interpreting fetal monitoring strips; second set of hands (receive and recover normal newborn as needed)

  • Types of Patients on Unit:

  • HIGH acuity: Hypertension, Mg administration, C-sections (33% c section rate), Preterm labor, Insulin drips (rarely- follow protocol), vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, Robust antepartum, PROM, Multiple births, post-partum hemorrhage

  • Transition post vaginal births and C-Section (mom and baby) Expectation is full recovery of birthing patient and baby; If there is a second set of hands to attend the birth and they will assign APGARS, but no guarantee they will be available after that to help care for the baby

  • Up to 300 deliveries per month

Patient Ratios:

  • Per AWHONN guidelines:

  • 1:1 active labor

  • 1:2 non-active laboring

  • 1:2-3 antepartum, dependent on acuity

  • Equipment Used on Unit:

  • IV pumps: Alaris CareFusion

  • Medication dispensing: Pyxis

  • Monitors: Fetal Surveillance: Centricity/Qx

  • Epidural Pumps- CAD Solaris

  • Panda Warmers

  • Coviden SCD’s

Floating Requirements: Antepartum (within L & D) , postpartum (4th floor) (occasionally), additional assignments within scope and experience

Required Credentials: If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.
