Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Travel experience is required from any number of months.
Must have at least 24 months of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit experience within the past 3 years.
Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

  • Must have at least 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience, with at least 1 full year of Level IV NICU.
  • IV therapy, UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter), UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter), Medications/Emergency Medications, Anti-Seizure Medications, Antibiotics/Antivirals, Neurologic, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Seizure disorders, Endocrine/Metabolic, Blood glucose monitoring, Hyperbilirubinemia, Phototherapy, Gastrointestinal, Breastfeeding Support/Handling of Breast Milk, Feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), Professional Topic and Skills, Patient/family teaching, Phlebotomy, Cardiovascular, Dysrhythmia Interpretation/Management, Invasive Hemodynamic monitoring, Telemetry -on the unit monitoring, Respiratory, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Oxygen Delivery Systems, Suctioning (ETT, NT), Tracheostomy care/management, Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), Infectious Disease, Isolation Precautions, Neonatal Sepsis, Sepsis Work Up, Patient Types, Neonates > 34 weeks, Neonates 29-34 weeks, Work Settings, NICU III, NICU IV, Additional Skills, Level IV exp. hard stop

  • Administration of blood & blood products, Arterial line management, Central line blood draw, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, Starting and maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors, Neonatal Dosage Calculations, Steroids, Surfactants, Assist with lumbar puncture, ICP monitoring, Therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket), Ventricular Peritoneal (VP) Shunts, Insulin administration, Colostomy/Ileostomy care, Gastroschisis/Omphalocele, Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), Placement/Management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, Post Abdominal Surgery, Developmental Care, Thermoregulation, Post cardiac surgery, Post interventional cardiac catheterization, Pre-Cardiac Surgery, High Frequency Ventilation, Meconium Aspiration, Nitric Oxide (INo), Oscillators, Respiratory distress syndrome, Vapotherm, Neonates < 24-28 weeks

Required Credentials:

  • Drivers License/State ID
  • Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start.
  • Pass/Fail Testing required with strict passing criteria.

A telemetry exam will be required prior to start. The following criteria must be met in two attempts:

Adult Exam:

100% identification of lethal rhythms: Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole

No incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks [1 incorrect answer will cause failure]

Passing score of 80% or higher

Pediatric Exam

Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia

Passing score of 80% or higher

Attempts: Traveler will have two attempts to pass. If the individual does not pass on the second attempt their contract may be cancelled. If the traveler fails the second attempt they will submit a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course to Vaya before a third attempt will be assigned. If the traveler does not pass after three attempts Vaya will notify recruitment of the results. Recruitment will notify the hiring manager that the traveler’s assignment will be cancelled.

Special Requests:

Shift & Scheduling: Day/Night, 12 hour shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm, 7:00pm-7:30am. Monday through Friday and required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period, Will Accept 4x12s And 26 Weeks

Floating Requirements: Travelers are the first to float.
