Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Neurologic Intensive Care Unit experience.
BSN completion preferred
Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred from any number of months
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a District of Columbia license

Special Requests:

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If Clinician has questions, please email the AM.

Shift & Scheduling: Night (18:30 - 07:30); Day (07:00 - 19:00) The majority of the shifts are day shifts. Up to two weeks of the six week schedule could be nights shifts.

No Call Requirements (Rotating A/P, D/E, D/N - unless specified Night Shift), 36 or 48hrs, EOW, holidays as needed)

Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule

Block Schedules: No

Orientation Hours: 24

Pre-Approved Time Off: 2 Requests

RTO: Must be on the submittal and cannot be changed once the profile has been sent to the manager for review.

Float Requirement: To Other ICUs / IMC

Required Skills/Experience: Conscious Sedation, ICP, and Vents skills

Preferred Skills/Experience: Pulmonary Artery Lines, IV Starts, and Phlebotomy skills; Previous Charge, Teaching Hospital, and Community Hospital Experience

Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics

Common Diagnoses: SAH, ICH, Ischemic Stroke, Brain Mass, Head Trauma

Special procedures in the unit: Comprehensive Stroke Center

Equipment Used on Unit: EVD, Raumedic Bolt, Artic Sun, CVVH, Lytic catheter Flo-tracker and PA- catheter (occasionally), Lumbar Drains

Previous Employment Requirements:

Return Staff Policy: If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.
