Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
24 months of Neurologic Intensive Care Unit experience is required from the last 3 years.
Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred from any number of months
12 months of experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 1 reference from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role

Additional Details:

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Shift: Evening/Night, 8/12 hr with every other weekend, some holidays.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must have experience in ICP or ventric.
  • Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years.

Other transportation options are available: bus, park & ride, private parking, etc.

Unit Details:

  • This unit specialized in subarachnoid hemorrhages, un-stables ischemic and hemorrhage strokes, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury. The Neuroscience ICU is a 16 bed ICU which provides ICP monitoring and hemodynamic monitoring of unstable patients. The Neuroscience ICU will provide nurses the opportunity to work with severe neurological, neurovascular and neurosurgical populations.

Floating Requirements:

  • Travelers are the first. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the traveler’s assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract

Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

  • Patient Diagnoses: Stroke- ischemic, post thrombectomy and lysis, subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral hemorrhage, Status Epilepticus, Post op neurosurgery- brain tumor resection, aneurysm clipping and coiling, Traumatic brain injury, Spinal Cord Injury.

  • CereLink monitor

Orientation Schedule: UWH orientation is held every other week – typically on a Monday, but not all travelers will start on a Monday even if the contract has a Monday start. This is due to department specific orientation schedules. Travelers should follow the start date and time listed in their welcome letter and department schedule. Travelers will orient at 600 Highland Ave, room F8/170 (subject to change – traveler should follow instructions in welcome letter). Orientation is typically about one week.
