Requirements

Experience

12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

Must have at least 12 months of Progressive Care Unit experience.

BSN completion required

Experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.

References

Candidates must provide 2 charge/lead references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

License

Candidates must have a South Dakota license or compact license

Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS)

Required Skills/Experience:

Ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, chest tubes, trach care (no fresh traches), NGT tube placement and management, JP drains, line management – PICC/Midline/CVL/PIV placement, wound vacs (Wound Care RN will change out the vac but RN must know how to assess and will need to change to wet/dry dressing in case of malfunction), wound care/dressing changes, medication administration, TPN/tube feeding, blood product transfusions, urinary and fecal collection devices

Previous experience with our types of patients, including IMC/stepdown acuity and Neuro

Intermediate/Stepdown Level RN: 1 year of nursing experience required

First-time traveler: Yes, if greater than 1 year of experience. Must have epic experience if a first time traveler.

Preferred Skills/Experience: post neuro-intervention - education and resources are provided by the unit if they have not had this patient type

Required Credentials:

• Photo ID

• Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

• Blackout dates from August 1-18th (exact dates change each year) due to our Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. No time off is approved during this time.

Shift & Scheduling:

• 6 week scheduule

• Weekend rotation: Travelers could be scheduled for up to 4 out of the 6 weekends, which include Friday, Saturday and Sunday

• No mandatory call time. If it is an extra shift on top of their already guaranteed hours, and we have enough staff then they could be placed on call for that shift

Floating Requirements:

• Any Adult Inpatient Unit - Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, Observation

• Could be floated within scope of practice and below

• Will float in rotation with other travelers
