Requirements

Experience

12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

3 months of travel experience is required from any number of months.

Must have at least 24 months of Cardiovascular Operating Room experience.

BSN completion preferred

Trauma Level 1 experience is required from any number of months

Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.

References

Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

License

Candidates must have a District of Columbia license

ACLS (Preferred)

Vaccinations

Required Skills: General Surgery, Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple, Robotics, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), Mitral valve replacement, TAVR (Transaortic Valve Replacement), Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD/RVAD), CVOR, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair), Heart, Kidney, Liver, Lung, Pancreas

Preferred Skills: Cardiothoracic robotic surgery, Da Vinci Si Surgical System, Intestinal, Organ donation, Scrub

Required Credentials: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Unit/Facility Details: Parking is on campus so there is no shuttle schedule to worry about after an evening shift.

Special Requests: Return Staff Policy - If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.

Shift & Scheduling: D/E - Day shift is 0630-1900/ Evening shift is 1100-2330

On Call/Weekend Requirements: 6 calls per 6 week schedule, one weekend or holiday per 6 week schedule.

Number of Weekend Shifts Per Contract: 2 per 13 week contract
