Previous Employment Requirements: If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.
Required Skills/Experience: Telemetry, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias
Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:
• Patient Diagnosis: Diabetes, congestive heart failure, infection, sepsis, COPD, general surgery (kidney stones, appendectomy, minor amputations), sickle cell crisis, GI bleed, diverticulitis, general medicine/observation
• Special Procedures/Unit Details: Most surgical cases are placed on our unit. Large orthopedic program (total joints), colorectal surgeries, vascular procedures, bariatric surgery.
Types of Patients on Unit: Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics. Although the unit accommodates pediatric patients on that unit, travelers are not expected to hold PALS certification or care for pediatric patients. The Telemetry unit is adult only.
Equipment Used on Unit: Patient lifts (ceiling and portable), CADD pump, chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, capnography
Unit/Facility Details:
• 44 beds, 34 rooms
• References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.
• A valid driver's license will be required if driving on behalf of MedStar Health is an essential function of the job.
Special Requests:
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks per contract
