Required Skills/Experience: Skills required: RN: Be able to do a take down and physical restraint on an agitated patient if necessary – forms of restraint include: Time out/seclusion rooms, restraint rooms, holding patient down to administer shot, the facility has but is not currently using a restraint chair; verbal de-escalation, group didactic skills, good communication skills; Team Nursing approach – RN will administer their own meds (injectable and PO) pass meds, evaluate care plans and note progress and documentation, admission screens, Assessments, minor wound care, EKGS (we train), glucometer, take telephone or verbal orders, acknowledge orders, vital signs, the Columbia suicide risk screen, end of shift report, log in patient belongings, screenings and discharge planning
Required Credentials: Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing. NURSYS.
Unit/Facility Details: Patient Ratios: RN: 1:8 with a tech.
Special Requests: Approval of time off? Through Supervisors. No RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August).
Shift & Scheduling: Scheduling: Blocked scheduling will NOT be accommodated Most openings will be posted for variable shifts, meaning there will be no guarantee of nights or days throughout contract Weekend rotation: every other weekend; 12 hours on the weekend and also could be a combo on Fri, Sat or Sun; Combo shifts are 2 12’s and 2 8’s in a week; 8 hr Days: 0800-1600 8 hr Eves: 1600-0030 8 hr Nights: 0000-0830 12 hr Days: 0800-2030 12 hr Nights: 2000-0830 Will they be on call? They could be low census on call depending on acuity. Holiday Expectations: If you work one major holiday of Thanksgiving or Christmas, you get the other one off each year. Other holidays are first request or as the schedule allows. 2/4 holidays are required.
Floating Requirements: Floating: If we are over staffed for census we float usually techs to the ED or towers. We are located off site of main campus, across town about 15 min. away. RN’s/LPN’s could float between the (3) floors at this off site Behavioral Health facility
