Requirements
Experience
24 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit experience with 12 months within the past 3 years.
Trauma Level 1 experience is required from any number of months
Experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.

Acute Cardiac Intermediate Unit

Required Skills/Experience: Must have CVICU or Cardiac ICU background. Would expect the traveler coming in has at least 2 solid years of CVICU experience (prefer more) with continuing to travel having ICU assignments and can take care of these patients without issue right off the bat. We cannot train for our equipment and patient population. They must be able to pick up right away. Must be able to work at a fast paced. Must be able to interpret strips. These skills are needed in Stepdown as the expectation is for the traveler to be able to float to our ICU if needed.

Types of Patients on Unit: Patient Population – Stepdown patients from AHU ICU, TAVRs, Ablations, Watchmen Procedure, Micras, Mitral Clips, heart failure, trached and ventilated patients, overflow from other Stepdowns including COVID patients. Specialty Intervention.

Equipment Used on Unit: Swan Ganz, External Pacemakers. Lines – PICC, Midlines, CVC, Swans, Arterial Lines (radial and femoral). RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Yes, we have ventilators, utilize CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow. Vented patients are trached.

Unit/Facility Details: Acute Cardiac Intermediate Unit. # Beds: 20 beds, all private, all monitored. Nurse: Patient Ratios: Ratio – Depending on patient acuity and population. Our unit needs someone who is proficient in all cardiovascular ICU components with the exception of immediate post op (would be a bonus if they did), VAD and transplant. We utilize swans, CVC, and art lines daily on majority of our patients. We utilize temporary pacemakers on a lot of our patients. We get multiple EP patients. We have IABPs. We titrate multiple drips frequently. We have a lot of ventilated patients. All of these items could be on one patient and sometimes two of these in one assignment.

Special Requests: Requested time off. It is not self scheduling for non AHU Mission Partners, no blocking. We do try to work with schedules, however priority goes to AHU Mission Partners.

Shift & Scheduling: Rotating weekends and holidays. Dayshift weekends are Saturday, Sunday.

Floating Requirements: Float to every level of care. Travelers are expected to take a full team. Travelers on Stepdown are expected to be able to float up to the ICU.
