Orientation: Hospital NEO then will work the remaining shift with a preceptor on the floor
1-2 shifts on the unit with preceptor support (will have their own patient assignment but have a resource buddy)
Shift & Schedule: Weekend Rotation: Yes, every other weekend. (may work back-to-back weekends, rare) Looking for flexibility
No On-Call
Holiday Expectations: They can be scheduled on holidays, 1-2 holidays per contract
Schedule cycle: 6 weeks in advance for a 6-week schedule
Required Skill / Experience: At least 3-years of ED experience in large volume ED with high acuity patients
Strong emergency nursing skills to include: critical care and pediatric patients
Experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, blood administration, Bipap/Ventilators
Splinting
Barcode Scanning Medication Administration-this is required of staff
Experience with managing medication drips
Triage experience-must pass hospital’s Triage Test before allowed to triage
Able to set up chest tubes, art lines. Assist with Trauma and Code cases. ER skills, Critical patients.
Splinting. Good understanding of ESI. Triage experience
Preferred Skill / Experience: Pediatric emergency medicine experience
Patient Types: Neonate to geriatric, Level III trauma center, pediatrics (medical and trauma). stroke (administer tPa), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health and substance use disorder
Busiest ED in the state
Transfer out (stabilize and ship): neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, high acuity peds patients
Unit Detail: Beds: 34 with 12 hallway beds
Ratio: 1/3-5 based on acuity; fast track (13 beds, “green zone”); ER is set up in zones
Equipment Used on Unit: IV pumps: Alaris / Monitors: Phillips
Special Requirement: If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.
