Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Common treatments for these hemodynamically compromised patients include mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, complex medication regimens, clinical trials and plasmapheresis.
Many patients have underlying pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions requiring bronchoscopy or endoscopy.
Types of Patients on Unit: Patient Age group: Adults, Geriatrics
Patient Diagnoses: The most common diagnosis of patients include Oncologic Emergencies, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pneumonia, Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Gastrointestinal bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, consequences of oncologic treatment, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders and sepsis.
Equipment Used on Unit: Special Equipment: Use NxStage CRRT machines, Cortrak NG/Dobhoff placement, Alaris IV pumps, GE monitors.
Unit/Facility Details: Number of Rooms: 24; Number of Beds: 24, Daily Census: 23
Special Requests: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.
RTO required with submission, must be built into contract
Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
Shift & Scheduling: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)/Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs.
Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.
