Travel Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit

Additional Details:

BJC policy: Every other weekend required.

RNs only - Clinicians who obtained RN degree outside of the U.S. and do not hold MO/IL/Compact license require extended licensing and compliance timeframe.

No medical marijuana cards accepted.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Is on-call req: Yes, This position has a call obligation 1 - 2 times weekly (either weekday or weekend shifts). Response time is 45 minutes.
• Weeknight call 8p-730a
• Call is one night a week and every 3rd-4th weekend

Floating Requirements: Will clinician float within scope to meet facility needs: Yes, Floating required between Belleville and East (Shiloh)

Types of Patients on Unit:

• Patient Population: We take care of a very diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics having a range of surgeries

Required Skills/Experience:

• Skills Required: Vents, IV Starts, Telemetry, prior PACU exp.
• Special Requirements: We assist anesthesia with nerve blocks prior to surgery and may discharge patient’s home.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Skills Preferred: Conscious Sedation

• Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics

Orientation Hours: 10

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

• Patient Diagnoses: We take care of a very diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics having a range of surgeries

Unit Details:

• We have 2 hospitals 15 minutes apart. We float staff back and forth as needed. Shiloh has a 6 bay PACU and Belleville has a 20 bay PACU. We assist anesthesia with nerve blocks prior to surgery and may discharge patients home.

Special Requests:

• RTO must be on the submittal and cannot be changed once the profile has been sent to the manager for review.
• No RTO the first week of an assignment

Required Credentials:

• Background Policy to be noted prior to submission
• Cert: PALS - RQI is acceptable

Previous Employment Requirements:

• Permanent employees at must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler.
• All Standard Travelers (reside outside of a 75 mile radius) can stay for an 18 month period. Must take a 3 month break after 18 months.
