Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
Must have at least 24 months of Intensive Care Unit experience.
BSN completion preferred
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 3 years in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Maryland license or compact license

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Manager may or may not interview. Clinician must be okay with this. If Clinician has questions, please email the AM.

Previous Employment Requirements: If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.

Required Skills/Experience: Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Multi-system organ failure, Obtain 12 lead EKG, ECMO, Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, Sheath Removal, Ventricular Assist devices (LVAD/RVAD), IV insulin protocols, Chronic/Acute Renal failure, CVVHD/CRRT, Accessing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, PICC line management, Starting IVs, Emergency Medications, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips, CVA/Acute Stroke management, ICP monitoring, Assist with management of BiPAP, Assist with management of CPAP, Assist with Chest Tube Insertion/Removal, Care of Ventilated Patient, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Suctioning (ETT, NT), Ventilator Management, Infection Prevention, Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE, Phlebotomy, Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac

Preferred Skills/Experience: Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Thermoregulation: hypothermia/hyperthermia, CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft),Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/intervention, Continuous IV paralytics/Neuromuscular blockade, Continuous IV sedation, Procedural Sedation Administration, Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, Spinal cord injury.

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:

-Acute MI, Respiratory Failure, COPD Exacerbation, pneumonia, COVID, PE, DKA, HHNK, Angioedema, Unstable Angina, acute renal failure, hypertensive crisis, cardiac arrest, acute CVA, drug overdose, poison overdose, sepsis, rhabdomyolysis

-TPA administration and monitoring, manual proning, Bilevel/APRV ventilation, trach care, ETT care, post cath care including sheath monitoring and removal, targeted temperature management, IABP management, continuous renal replacement therapy, cardiac output monitoring, transvenous pacing

Types of Patients on Unit: Adults, Geriatrics

Equipment Used on Unit: Flotrac monitoring, IABP, Rotoproner, Swan-Ganz pulmonary artery catheters, external transvenous pacers, hiflow oxygen

Unit/Facility Details: 24 Beds

Special Requests: RTO must be on the submittal and cannot be changed once the profile has been sent to the manager for review.

Shift & Scheduling: Every Third Weekend Coverage

Acceptable IDs: A valid driver's license will be required if driving on behalf of MedStar Health is an essential function of the job.
