Additional Details:
No RTO will be approved during the following dates:
-Fourth of July Weekend: 7/3 - 7/7
-Labor Day weekend: 8/30 - 9/2
-Halloween Weekend: 10/30 - 11/3
First-time traveler: Will accept a first-time traveler. Minimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg and/or ICU with EPIC or Cerner experience. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required.
Staff has to be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler. From last shift worked to start date.
Scheduling:
-Weekend rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month
-On call: No
-Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
-Holiday Expectations: This does not mean they will automatically be scheduled for those dates, but we will not contractually guarantee to being off prior to arrival.
-Time off: We can approve up to 7 days off on your behalf excluding provided blackout dates, NM/Eanh approval for Blackout dates.
-Schedule cycle: 4 week cycle period; no self scheduling – utilize smart square
Scrub Color: Any color
Parking: Parking deck only 2nd through 4th levels
Orientation:
-Travelers who are new to the facility or return travelers who have been gone for 1+ years will have 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit.
-Rehires: Orientation will depend on last date here.
RNs are required to interpret and confirm q4 hours strip reading.
Floating: Any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds)
6 North Trauma Surgical:
-Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries
-Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
-Skills required: At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience. Wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation and escalations
5 South Neuroscience:
-Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post trauma, angiogram
-Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
-Skills required: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, Colostomy/Ostomy, Wound Care, Chest tube, Surgical Site Care, C-Collar, Abdominal Binders, Restraints
5 North MedSurg/Oncology: chemo experience highly preferred
-Patient Types: All patient types except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal. MS/Oncology patients
-Patient Ratios: 1:6 for RN and LPNs
-Skills required: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; Chemo administration, if certified.
-Tele monitoring on hallway monitors and by tele techs on ground floor
4 South Clinical Decision Unit:
-Patient Types: General MedSurg COPD, CHF, Diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, Pneumonia, Renal Failure, Sepsis, UTI, End of Life Comfort
-Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
-Skills required: Assessment, prioritization, communication and documentation skills.
-Tracheotomy care, Suctioning, O2 Therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, External catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube, central line care, pressure ulcer management/preventive measures, falls prevention management, restraints.
3 South Orthopedics:
-Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine: Joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies, etc.
-Patient Ratios: 1:5; 1:6 if medsurg
-Skills required: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley, drains (hemovacs/JP drains)
3 North MS/Ortho/Urology:
-Patient Types: Urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg
-Patient Ratios: 1-5:6
-Skills Required: Trach, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, follow nurse-driven foley protocol.
