Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
36 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
3 months of experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Patient Types:

High acuity: Hypertension, Mg administration, C-sections (33% c section rate), Preterm labor, Insulin drips (rarely- follow protocol), vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, Robust antepartum, PROM, Multiple births, post-partum hemorrhage

Transition post vaginal births and C-Section (mom and baby) Expectation is full recovery of birthing patient and baby; If there is a second set of hands to attend the birth and they will assign APGARS, but no guarantee they will be available after that to help care for the baby

Up to 300 deliveries per month

Patient Ratio: Per AWHONN guidelines: 1/1 active labor / 1/2 non-active laboring / 1/2-3 antepartum, dependent on acuity

Skills Required: High acuity experience: labor management and delivery of high risk OB patients, ability to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, cervical checks, reading/interpreting fetal monitoring strips; second set of hands (receive and recover normal newborn as needed)

Floating: Antepartum (within L & D) , postpartum (4th floor) (occasionally), additional assignments within scope and experience

Orientation: (facility and unit) CAP only

Preceptor - hospital orientation + 2 weeks on unit and 1 week independently. (Start 3 weeks before the residents hitting the floor)

Orientation: Traditional

NEO x 1 day; 2 days on the unit

Cardiac rhythm interpretation exam will be taken online prior to arrival

Scheduling:

Weekend Rotation: Every other, but can be variable based on need

No mandatory call requirements

May pick up available open shifts as needs arise

Holiday Expectations: Yes, fair and equitable

Approval of time off: RTO requests prior to contract approval

Incidental days off (24-48 hour) discuss with CANM or Manager

Schedule cycle: Self scheduling Group C – last group to schedule

Dress Code: Scrubs - provided by the facility - Scrubs are not to be worn out of the facility
