Requirements
Experience
12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
24 months of Progressive Care Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred from any number of months
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license

Additional Details:

No Block Schedules

Must have exp with at least 1: bowel resections, bariatric surgery, trach exp, epidural infusion.

Be sure RN is aware this is a high acuity MS/Tele unit, not ICU.

Teaching Hospital Experience preferred

Every Other weekend and Holiday

Orientation Hours: 24

Daily Census: 29

Patient Diagnoses: Primarily abdominal and ENT surgeries, complex wounds and medical overflow which may include diverticulitis, tonsil abscess, osteomyelitis, diabetes, influenza, GI bleed, occasional COVID and others. Opportunity for occasional palliative shifts if interested.

Special Procedures/Unit Details:

  • Bed Side Shift Reporting (BSSR), utilization of AIDET, and hourly rounding are required for this unit and all MMC Med Surg units

  • High acuity MS unit

  • Mixed patient population MS/Tele & PCU level

  • Abdominal Surgeries: cholecystectomy, bowel resection, Whipple-, etc.

  • ENT surgeries: thyroidectomy, laryngectomy, tracheostomy, etc.

  • Bariatric Surgery: gastric bypass

  • Complex Wounds: debridement, skin grafting, hyperbaric oxygen therapy

  • Flexible scheduling options, will accommodate some time off requests.

Unit Attributes: Excellent teamwork, welcoming of agency staff, fast paced unit requires strong med/surg foundation.

Bed Side Shift Reporting (BSSR), utilization of AIDET, and hourly rounding are required for this unit and all RN units. Clinicians will be requested to sign an attestation to confirm they are aware of this requirement during compliance.

If multiple holidays occur during assignment, facility will only accept 1 holiday RTO request

If candidates are not able to complete labs and DS within 48 hours of signing it may lead to a cancellation. Candidates should be aware that they will need to adjust their schedule accordingly to go in for labs within the timeframe required. Candidates are expected to plan ahead to avoid vacation/work schedule interference.
